Selling various types of groups throughout the year, in the USA as their target audience, since 2006, Robert along with his commercial and production teams, are responsible for all sales and marketing of corporate meetings, incentive groups, full resort charters and group sales in general, for each of their 80+ resorts around the world.
Prior to Director of CMB-USA, Robert was the Director of Sales and Marketing for Club Med Mexico. He was responsible for all sales and marketing operations of Club Med in Mexico, for the Mexican resorts of Ixtapa and Cancun. His more than 20 years experience in the travel industry, of which 16+ have been in sales and marketing, have enabled him to develop an in depth understanding of both national and international tourism, individual and group business sectors. Before joining Club Med, Mr.Cao worked as National Account Manager for the Orient Lines brand, managing and developing sales and marketing strategies for multi million dollar accounts and agency consortia groups. After a year as National account Manager, Mr.Cao was promoted to International Sales & Marketing Manager for both Norwegian Cruise Line and Orient Lines serving the Asia-Pacific and Middle-east Regions with NCL’s Parent company at the time, Star Cruises. .Prior to his tenure at Star Cruises Group, Mr.Cao held the position of National Account Manager at Club Med, responsible for managing national and regional consortia groups forthe company. In this position, Mr.Cao was awarded Best Performance National Account Manager for the year 1999-2000. Mr.Cao also worked at Premier Cruises and Kloster Cruise Limited/Royal Viking Line in the areas of sales and marketing. Of Cuban origin, Mr.Cao lives in Miami with his wife and two teen-age sons.

Derek Dessero began his international career with Club Med back in November 1994 working at the Reception desk in St Lucia. He worked for the next 5 years at various Club Med resorts such as Cancun, Playa Blanca, Huatulco, Copper Mountain, and Tahiti in areas such as the finance department, Accommodations, and was promoted to Reception Manager. In 1999, Derek started an entrepreneurial opportunity and moved to Mexico city to open his own English school, The English University, where he taught English to top executives in such companies Ford Motors, Noble Advertising and many others.

In 2000, he moved to Miami to work with the Club Med Corporate offices as Transportation Supervisor overseeing up to 10 airport representatives. He went on to working as a Group Operations Coordinator where he took pride in managing, organizing, and planning all types of groups. Such as family reunions, corporate events, full scale buy outs, as well as high end incentive trips. Within 6 months he became the departments top on-site sales producer, which generated an average of 18% extra revenue for the Department

In 2006 Derek was promoted to Group Sales Manager where he has been responsible for building business relationships with clients such as: travel agents, Fortune 500 companies, Meeting planners, and Corporate Executives. Due to his in depth understanding of domestic and international Group travel, his diligence, interpersonal and negotiation skills, he is currently in charge of the indirect Group Business channel for the entire USA.

Derek is fluent in 2 languages (English and Spanish) and enjoys traveling and spending time with friends. His favorite cities are Barcelona and Rio De Janiero.
